Stefano Preziosi

 

Stefano Preziosi was born in Sora (Italy) in 1981. He has started studying saxophone at the age of 10. He got the master degree in classical music with the highest grades in 2001 at the Conservatory “F. Morlacchi” of Perugia under the guide of Mario Raja and always with the highest grades he got the master degree in arrangements and composition Jazz in 2006 at the Conservatory “L.Refice” of Frosinone with Ettore Fioravanti. He also got a master degree with honors in Saxophone Jazz at the Conservatory of Frosinone with thesis regarding the analysis of the Lennie Niehaus’s saxophone style. He attended the Siena Jazz’s seminary and the masterclasses of Bob Mintzer, Rosario Giuliani and Dan Moretti. He was the first alto sax in the Saint Louis’s big band of Rome under Gianni Oddi’s direction. He has performed in several festivals like: VILLA CELIMONTANA JAZZ, ACUTOJAZZ, ALTOMONTE JAZZ FESTIVAL, ATINAJAZZ, FONTANA LIRI JAZZ, JANULA JAZZ FESTIVAL, ISPANI JAZZ FESTIVAL, JAZZIT FESTIVAL, MURATA STREET SOUND (Arce – FR), ROCCELLA JAZZ FESTIVAL, SAN GIORGIO A LIRI JAZZ, ISOLA JAZZ FEST 2016, LIRI BLUES 2017.

He collaborates with different big bands like Gerardo Di Lella Big Band, Modern Big Band of Gerardo Iacoucci, Tentet jazz orchestra, Italian West Side Big Band. Besides he performs as jazz soloist in small bands in different jazz clubs in Rome and Italy like the ALEXANDERPLATZ (Rome), 28 DIVINO (Rome), GREGORY’S (Rome), COTTON CLUB (Rome), CAFFE’ CANTU’ JAZZ CLUB (Rome), CHARITY (Rome), Al FELLINI (Rome), MEMO RESTAURANT (Milan), GOGOL & COMPANY (Milan), GUSTO JAZZ CLUB (Cassino), BAR ITALIA JAZZ CLUB (Cassino), LA SALETTA CENTRO DELLE ARTI (Frosinone) and many others.

During the academic year 2010/2011 through a training grant he taught in the Jazz ensemble at the Jazz department of the French Conservatory in Cergy-Pontoise for 5 months. During this period he also performed in the renowned jazz club of Paris as the Duc Des Lombard, Le Baiser Salè, Sunset subside, Le Caveau del Oubliettes.

He has behind 11 tourneé in Finland where he performed in the main cities like Helsinki, Tampere, Espoo, Hyvinkää, Riihimäki, Kerava, Ruka, Järvenpää with NOW TRIO (Stefano Preziosi – sax & effects, Karri Luhtala – Hammond & effects, Dario Panza – drums), band which proposes the rock history in jazz and electronics style.

His first album “Europa Jazz Quartet” as co-leader composed by original tunes was edited by Roman label ZONE DI MUSICA.
In 2012 he recorded his first album as leader “STEFANO PREZIOSI QUARTET - CLIMBING UP” he was engaged on original tunes composed by himself toghether with the following musicians: Ettore Fioravanti (drums), Pierpaolo Principato (piano) e Stefano Cantarano (bass), the album was edited by the Italian label WIDE SOUND.

As sideman he has recorded with Gerardo Di Lella’s big band the album “Napoli & Jazz” (UNIVERSAL), Romeo Venditti Quintet (SIFARE), Costanza Alegiani Quintet (edit. CONSERVATORY OF FROSINONE), The Sister - La via del successo (SANNY PRODUCTION), Pastiche Melting Pot Music (feat. Javier Girotto, etichetta inglese BALLOON CONTACT)..

He is engaged for the season 2015-2016 by the Enzo Sanny Management to perform as lead alto sax with the big band to play togheter the famous soul-singer Amii Stewart with more than 50 dates in the main Italian theaters (Roma, Milano, Napoli, Bologna, Firenze, Torino, Trieste, Novara and many others).

In January 2017 he recorded his latest album "STEFANO PREZIOSI QUARTET PLAYS THE STANDARDS" released on June 16, 2017 for Filibusta Records, making more than 170,000 downloads on Spotify.
He is a member of the ITALIAN WEST SIDE BIG BAND, an 18-musicians jazz orchestra with which he produced an album titled "BLUE TONE" (ALFA MUSIC label) with prestigious guests such as Maurizio Giammarco (sax tenor), Eugenio Colombo (soprano sax) Giancarlo Schiaffini (trombone), Aldo Bassi (trumpet).

Since 2017 he has been teaching jazz saxophone and jazz harmony at the international masterclasses of the Alatri Jazz Festival.

From the 2017/18 academic year he teaches Jazz Saxophone at "O.Respighi" Conservatory of Music.
